Yeti Coolers Rambler Colster

Those who enjoy sipping a canned beverage slowly, and want their canned drink to stay cold from the first taste to the last, are likely to find the Yeti Coolers Rambler Colster the solution of dreams.

The Yeti’s dapper stainless steel hull surrounds a hollow, vacuum-sealed space. Since heat is not conducted through the vacuum layer, the cans remain very well insulated. Even with an ice cold can inside, the Yeti never feels cold on the outside, and droplets of condensation never form. The technology also prevents heat from your hands penetrating the Yeti's shell, and reaching the drink within. In my own experience, beverages can stay cold for 30 minutes or more.

The Yeti cooler is sized perfectly for a standard 12 ounce can, and it also accommodates standard 12 ounce bottles. In the latter scenario, a plastic adapter screws down onto the Yeti to keep the bottle from rattling around while drinking. That same adapter, when used with a can, augments the Yeti’s prowess by reducing further the amount of heat that can seep in from the outside.

Because the can diameters are the same, a “Tall-Boy” can will fit inside the Yeti with about a quarter of the can standing above the Yeti’s stainless wall. Tall cans prevent the use of the plastic adapter, so they are a little more heat-vulnerable. But hey, those first four ounces get consumed quickly, right? Once the Tall-Boy’s liquid content is consumed down to 12 ounces, level with the Yeti’s opening, a drink continues to stay quite cool.

There are only two small considerations for potential Yeti owners. First, it adds about a half inch to the can diameter. Some users may find the extra girth challenging when using a Yeti with cup holders in the car. The Yeti also adds a few ounces of weight to the can, but it’s a tiny tradeoff for a consistently-cool beverage.

While made as a can holder, it’s nice to know the Yeti can pull double-duty in a pinch, and keep hot beverages hot. Yes, you can use it to hold your coffee if you leave off the plastic adapter, and don’t mind feeling the adapter’s threading against your lip. Ideally though, I’d suggest one of Yeti’s dedicated mugs as an ideal partner for hot drinks.

Expensive at about $36, the Yeti can cooler does its job extremely well. In fact, it’s by far the best can cooler I’ve experienced. Also, it appears to have a build quality that can last a lifetime if cared for. Do yourself a favor and give it a try. You’ll be glad you did.
